Live preview renders the note as you type. The syntax only appears on the line your caret is on, then folds away again. One key flips to raw source when you want it.

The assistant stays off until you switch it on. Connect the AI subscription you already pay for, or a model running on your own computer. There are no tokens to buy from us. Prefer a coding agent? Point it at your vault and let it file notes, link ideas and manage tasks while you think.
Yours
Markdown notes, open formats for boards and sketches. Git them, sync them with whatever you like, open them in any other Markdown app tomorrow. No database, no export step.
One password-protected file holds everything, ready to move to another computer. The password never leaves your machine, and a restore keeps your current data aside first.
Leonote runs entirely on your computer. No sign-up, no server of ours that your notes pass through, and nothing stops working if we ever disappear.

I got tired of juggling a different app for every part of studying, so I built one that does it all, and then I kept building. If Leonote saves you an evening of fighting your tools, tell a friend. That is the whole price.

No. Point Leonote at the folder and it opens as it is. It reads standard Markdown, [[wikilinks]], tags, callouts, .canvas boards and open-format drawings, and respects your attachment folder. Nothing is converted, so you can keep using your other apps on the same folder.
No catch. It was going to be a paid app, and I decided I would rather it reach as many people as possible. There are no ads, no data collection and no features held back. If you want to help, tell a friend or join the community.
Your vault is a normal folder, so anything that syncs folders works: a cloud drive, a peer-to-peer sync tool, or git. For a new computer, one encrypted backup file carries everything. An optional hosted backup is planned for later.
It works entirely offline. There is no account and no licence server. The network is only used for things you ask for, like playing an online media link you added.
Windows 10 and 11 today, Linux next, macOS maybe someday. There is no mobile app yet, but notes are plain Markdown, so any mobile Markdown editor on the same synced folder can read and write them.
Uninstall it. You paid nothing, and your notes were never inside Leonote to begin with, so there is nothing to export.
