LeoNote

Legal

Privacy policy

1. Who is responsible

LeoNote is published by Olexify, an independent developer currently established in Ukraine, who is the controller for the limited personal data described here. Contact for anything in this policy: olexifyyy@gmail.com.

2. The LeoNote application

What it stores, and where

All of the following stays on your computer, in the vault folder you choose and in LeoNote’s own data folder. None of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else by LeoNote.

There is no sign-up, no licence server the application reports to, no crash reporting, no usage statistics and no advertising identifier.

When the application uses the network

Only when you ask it to. If you open, embed or queue a link to something on the internet, LeoNote requests it from your computer directly from that third-party service, exactly as a web browser would. That service will receive your IP address and the usual technical request details, may set its own cookies inside the embedded player, and handles that data under its own privacy policy, not this one. Links you click open in your default browser. If you never use online links, LeoNote makes no network requests for content.

Other software you connect

Your vault is a normal folder, so sync tools, backup tools and AI agents that you install and run yourself can read and change it. What those tools do with your files, and where they send them, is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. In particular, an AI agent typically sends the text it works on to its provider. LeoNote only shows you what changed and who changed it; it does not send anything to those providers itself.

3. The leonote.app website

4. When you buy LeoNote

Checkout is operated by the payment provider or store shown at the time of purchase. Where it acts as reseller or merchant of record, or where you buy through a store such as Steam, it is an independent controller of your payment data and handles your name, email address, billing country, payment details and tax information under its own privacy policy. We never receive or store your card number.

From the provider we receive what we need to fulfil and support the sale: your email address, order reference, date, product, amount, country and tax status, and refund status. We use it to deliver your licence, handle refunds and support, prevent fraud, and meet accounting and tax obligations. We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and no longer.

5. When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write, use it only to answer you, and delete the conversation when it is no longer needed. Please do not send us notes or files containing sensitive information; a description of the problem is almost always enough. Our community lives on Discord and other third-party platforms; what you post there is handled by those platforms under their own policies.

6. Sharing

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone except: the payment provider and the hosting and email providers that process it for us; professional advisers and authorities where the law requires it; and a successor, if the LeoNote business is ever transferred, under this same policy.

7. Legal bases and international transfers

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (delivering and supporting your purchase); legal obligation (tax and accounting records); and legitimate interests (keeping the website secure, preventing fraud, answering your messages). Olexify is established outside the European Economic Area, and our providers operate globally, so your data may be processed outside your country. Where required, transfers rely on adequacy decisions or the providers’ standard contractual clauses.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to ask for access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable form, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. In practice we hold very little: at most an order record and any emails you sent. Write to olexifyyy@gmail.com and we will answer within 30 days. We do not make automated decisions about you.

9. Children

LeoNote and this website are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

10. Security

The best protection for your data is that we do not have it. Your notes are as secure as the computer, the sync tools and the backups you keep them on. LeoNote does not encrypt your vault on disk; use your operating system’s disk encryption if you need that. Backup files made by LeoNote are encrypted with your password.

11. Changes

If LeoNote ever starts to handle data differently — for example, if the optional hosted backup service launches — this policy will be updated before that happens, the date at the top will change, and anything that sends data off your computer will be opt-in.
